Steve Ballmer (CEO, Microsoft) hat höchstpersönlich bekanntgegeben, dass die zweite Generation an Windows Phone Smartphones “zur Weihnachtszeit 2011” in die Läden kommen wird. Somit erscheinen diese Geräte etwa ein Jahr später als die erste Generation, mit der Veröffentlichung von Windows Phone 7, im Herbst 2010. Die neuen Geräte werden mit Windows Phone 7.1 (Mango) ausgerüstet sein. Bei diesen neuen Smartphones könnte es sich um das Nokia Sea Ray oder eine Windows Phone Version des Samsung Galaxy S2 handeln.

“Windows Phone. You know, a year ago we didn’t have a phone in the market. Now, we’re charging forward with Nokia. We have the second generation of our phones coming out this Christmas, and people are starting to do things they had never imagined before. I love the applications that I saw for the Windows Phone from the people in this room, and the way you’re pushing that device, and using that device. It was really exciting for me.”
